Conserving the barn’s fabric, materials were reused. In the kitchen, original weatherboarding adorns the wall behind the log burner, while the brick flooring has been preserved, with efficient underfloor heating beneath.

Maintaining the local vernacular, thousands of Suffolk flat red tiles were meticulously removed and re-laid. Beneath, thermowood panels sit atop the original oak frame, alongside black weatherboard cladding that highlights the barn’s profile.

The distinctive timber frame, with dramatic rafters and beams, is the home’s focal point, showcased in the vaulted family, living, and dining space. Historic elements contrast with a striking mezzanine and steel Crittall doors, rooting contemporary living in this picturesque countryside setting.

Low Street Barn is a testament to blending heritage with contemporary design, transforming a derelict barn into a family home.
