The key design aim was to align with the school’s educational vision that learning is an adventure, filled with inspirational and creative opportunities.

The layout is formed around a horseshoe shape with two courtyards in the middle of the building. The single storey building offers students full accessibility, with the agency to move around the school independency.

Internally the building offers multiagency and out-of-hours communal spaces including a hydrotherapy pool, a valuable therapeutic space and community asset. To the south, classrooms are located and zoned in early years, primary, secondary and post-16 areas, supporting student’s sense of progression through the school.

The project is part of the DfE’s Sustainability Pilot Scheme and the NLA’s Resilience London. The sustainability targets improve on the current DfE output specification and include improved fabric performance and airtightness to significantly recue heat losses. The heating and renewable strategy makes use of solar pv panels and air source heat pumps to efficiently heat the building.
