We worked with the local authority, teachers, parents and children of the school for ten years to realise the project, replacing an insufficient site nearby.
Overcoming the tight site constraints and proximity to existing residential areas, the three storey building is partially sunk into the ground, with the first floor accommodation dramatically cantilevered over the ground floor providing covered parking and maximising external play space.
Student’s independence is fully integrated throughout the building, with an array of circulation routes available including, staircases, lifts and an elevated walkway offering 360 degree views of key areas. Aids and adaptations have been employed at each available opportunity to support the users and assist the staff in delivery of exemplary learning.
